1st Coastal Scents Purchase!

I’ve had the Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Palette for approximately 2 months and I just can’t get enough. I’m reaching for it more and more. I’m into the pinky-purplely shades that really bring out my green eyes. This palette is perfect for that. It also offers some basic fundamental shades, such as the neutral creamy shades and black, and some fun and interesting shades like the bright cranberry color. This was my first purchase from Coastal Scents and I was a little skeptical. I won’t lie, I was really excited to get this in the mail. Maybe my heart new it was going to be love at first sight? Ha! But anyway…

This palette is $19.95 on the website, but when it goes on sale you can purchase it for around $10. I don’t know when the sales happen, you just have to keep checking back. I am so surprised by the quality of these shadows because they’re so affordable. The shimmery ones are super buttery. I’ve had very little fall out upon application. I did apply the shadows one day without a primer and they did crease, but I am not all-together surprised by that. I’ve noticed that you need an eye shadow primer for pretty much ALL eye shadows. I have heard that this palette is very similar to the Naked 3 palette by Urban Decay, but I don’t know. I do not own that palette as of yet.

It is easy to see that the color choices are great. You get: mattes, neutral pinks/roses and browns, shimmer colors (that gold color in the inner corners of the eyes!), copper colors, and unexpected bright colors like a few of the pinks, and the cranberry color I mentioned earlier. There are 20 colors in this palette. They are fool proof because they mix perfectly together; they blend so smoothly and simply. It has simple cardboard packaging. There is no mirror in this palette which may bother some, but I’m cool with it.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette

I wanted so, so much to love this palette. Some of the colors are gorgeous and some are, it pains me to say, just meh. The following statement is taken directly from the Too Faced website (click on the pictures in this post and it will take you to toofaced.com): The Chocolate Bar experience begins as soon as you open the palette and the smell of sweet chocolate envelops you. The eye shadows are pigmented with pure, antioxidant-rich cocoa powder and includes 16 matte and shimmer shades of natural browns, delicate pinks and luscious plums.

Very cool color selection in the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Pallette!

I do agree that the makeup smells A-MAZE-ING!! I will open this palette just to smell it. I’m a huge fan of chocolate and the smell from this palette just feeds my addiction. AND, the eye shadows in this selection all have a chocolate or a candy-inspired name. The “”natural browns” in this palette, the Salted Caramel, Milk Chocolate, and Semi-Sweet to name names, were just not right for my skin tone. I want to say that they were too warm or cool, but I’m not sure if that’s it or not. I’m both stumped and bummed! For the most part the eye shadows are smooth and blend easily, save for a few. Too Faced gets an A+++ for the packaging. It’s adorable! It’s tin with a sturdy magnetic closure, decent sized mirror, and it looks like a Hershey chocolate bar!

The pink color, Strawberry Bon Bon, has no pigment at all. It looks beautiful in the palette but the color pay off truly disappointed me because I don’t have a lot of pinks in my makeup collection. I did loooove the Marizipan eye shadow; it’s a beautiful pinky-champagne color with shimmer.  I also love the colors Hazelnut and Creme Brulee. I’m going to give this palette to my sister because I just cannot get it to work with my coloring (my skin is a light-medium color with pink/red undertones). My sister has more of a olivey skin tone so I’m dying to see how the colors look on her. This palette is $49.00 from the Too Faced website, but I found that if you buy it through Amazon.com you may be able to get it for a better price (just make sure you’re checking who will be shipping your order).

It’s the Balm!

Okay, cheesy opening lines aside, I’m loving these ‘Nude ‘Tude eye shadows by The Balm! There are 12 shades in this palette. Each shade has a smooth, buttery consistency, and amazing color payoff with very little fall out. The palette offers a great mix of satin, matte, and shimmer finishes. My personal favorite in this palette is the shade Stubborn. It’s a gorgeous pale pink and champagne color with lavender flecks offering a satin finish. I feel as though the shade Sultry is a great matte light brown transition shade. This seems like it’s a great palette for doing neutral everyday looks, as well as doing fun and funky looks for a night out. The palette comes with a shadow/liner brush! It comes in nicely decorated cardboard packaging, has a magnetic closure, and a giant mirror.

I also have, in my hot little hands, The Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter, shimmer, and eye shadow. Can I just say, “Oh my gosh!” What a beautiful highlighter! The best way I know how to describe it is: a neutral golden/champagne shade with gold and light pink shimmer flecks within it. Such a beautiful way to highlight the cheekbones, and the high planes of the face. I am so in love with it! It’s very pigmented too, which means a little bit goes a long way. It also means you will have it forever!
